HCBS FAQ

Home and Community Based Services, also called  HCBS, are Medicaid services that can be provided at home or in the community - wherever individuals and their families are most comfortable. These services are personal, flexible, and meet the individual health, mental health, and/or developmental needs of individuals.

1) Enrolled or eligible to enroll in New York State Medicaid; 

and 

2) Have physical or mental health needs or have a developmental disability and live in foster care that puts them at risk of needing care in places like a long-term healthcare facility, or hospital for mental health care.

Individuals  without Medicaid may still be eligible for HCBS
